Hello

After lurking for ages I thought it was about time I came out of the corner and said hello and thank you to a few people.

Like a lot of browsers I suspect, I've been captivated and inspired by posts and articles on here to try new things.

Some of the more memorable ones have been the homemade chocolates from Cab's article that I made for last Christmas and the birch sap wine made earlier this year from Cab's/Gil's recipes. Both superb so 'thank you'.

By way of a swap I've developed a recipe/process for Elderflower cava or beer that I will post up in due course.

I'm interested in a lot of things including in no particular order, foraging, allotments, cooking, motorbikes as well as brewing so I may be able to help from time to time.

This is one of the best festive things I've, almost ever, done. I'm not a big chocolate eater, although I do like a bit from time to time, but I know quite a few friends who love it. It sounds corny but being able to give something that you've made to someone who you know will love it is very special.

From memory, and I'm struggling a bit, I made:-

Rose flavoured dark chocolate truffle with a hint of vodka. Dark chocolate shell.

Milk chocolate truffle with crushed hazelnuts. White chocolate shell.

White chocolate truffle with Grand Marnier. Milk chocolate shell.

Dark chocolate truffle with brandy and chopped crystallized ginger. Dark chocolate shell.

I also made some black pepper, coriander and chilli flavoured chocolates. Of these the black pepper one was everyone's favourite if I remember rightly.

Chocolate used was M&S's Swiss and Fairtrade and Sainsburys' Belgian milk and white.
