It doesn't seem like it anymore. It use to pay to store things in your shop, but now they charge you just as much if it sells in the shop compared to being on view in the auction site. Must admit i haven't worked it out either.I have 200 items stored in my shop which are not viewed on auction and about 10% of sales come from my shop in month So if i make 50 sales 10% approx came from my shop

I'm about to abandon ebay entirely and set up a proper web shop. One of those all-in packages from BT or somebody, with the credit card processing included. That way, you get the cash out a lot faster as well, and they're only about £30 a month.

For slow moving stuff, can you leave things in an eBay shop much longer than a simple auction, and if I'm right, does this impact on costs?

Yes you can leave it and you are charged every 30 days. The fee struture calculates per item and goes up per quanity of that item.So a item with a pic at £4.99 is 6p per month If i have more of that item listed say a quanity of 10 i will be charged more(i can't remember the fee)Once it sells you are then charged 10% of the selling cost. Its all very confusing to explain
saying all this it does pan out and i make a profit.Doing poorly at the moment though

It's £25 a month with BT for the package, and you can either subscribe to world pay or use your paypal account to process payments. I've decided to go ahead, so if anyone's interested I'll keep them up with how it goes.

one good thing about a shop is it gives you an easy address to give out/put on business cards etc. I used to fill my shopand generally have 100 - 2oo items in there and then put up a few auctions a few to hopefully draw in interest.
I've closed the shop now though and am concentrating on my website because it's hard work selling on ebay with so much cheap imported (often not so good) jewellery on there, people want something for nothing and don't appreciate the time and effort that goes into handmade stuff. Like eco I figure the money I'm paying ebay could be used on better things for my site
