Hold the front pageBefore I start please, please, please do not take what I'm going to say as critical, I know that this site functions because a few good folk dedicate a lot of time and money to it.
The diary entry on the front page is a lovely idea, it gives newcomers and browsers a really great introduction to the forum and sets the 'feel' of how we all are but one of my pet hates and I know I'm not alone in this, is out of date diary entries. Its the main reason that I steer clear of blogs. When you log in and the first thing you read is 'Crikey its July already', it gives the very wrong impression that the forum is out of date. Far be it from me to expect one poor soul to be responsible for updating the 'diary' every month so how's this for an idea. Open up the diary entry to all forumers. Those that feel they have something inviting and informative to say would be invited to pm their diary for the next month in the last week of the previous month, to a nominated person who must be obeyed. This person would then read through the diaries and use the one deemed most appropriate for that month.
Do you think that would work? If not would it be at all possible to keep the shiny new front page up to date?

Really hopes that this isn't seen as too critical and runs for cover in case.

It's a fair point, but we've been holding off to link in with some announcements that are pending.
I may delete the july bit.

Hate to say this, but "Editorial | 4th July 2008" followed by "Crikey, July is long gone..." doesn't look quite right either .

It's ok there is a woman in the Staff Room organising them...

| Quote: | | Crikey, July is long gone and I still haven't updated this blasted editorial, |
Like this ...... but ....

Not so sure about this - bit too "in-house" for newcomers maybe.
Slinks off to update out-of-date blog ...... and in case I've spoken out of turn
