Homemade muesli combinations

Bought various interesting packets from the health food shop this morning and this afternoon me and the boys had a tasting and mixing session to work out a combination we're happy with (i.e that they'll eat. Confused )

Our final recipe (to make a large poly box full) is
1 lb rolled oats (not the jumbo sort)
8oz barley flakes
6oz brown rice flakes
10oz raisins
3oz soft brown sugar.

I was vetoed on seeds so I've a separate jar of mixed pumpkin and sunflower seeds that I can sprinkle on as I wish - ditto dried apricot.

Do you have any fav combinations?

My version of my mother's recipe is to start with oats as a base, then throw in to taste:
rye flakes
bran flakes
coconut
sunflower seeds
raisins
chopped or whole almonds/brazil/hazelnuts

Heat about 200ml honey with about 200ml vegetable/sunflower oil and stir through the dry ingredients above. Put it all in a casserole dish & 'toast' in the oven (about 100deg) until nice & brown-ish. Check & stir every 20mins for even toasting.
Try & sneak some chopped up apricots in halfway through (if you put them in at the start they often burn!) as it's a lovely sweet contrast Laughing

I've done the toasted version with honey, oats, and almonds and then added raisins once cooled. I really like that, and we had that last week. Trouble is it doesn't last long in this house!

Oh dear Mrs F , why are you adding sugar. Far better to just chop some fresh fruit- especially strawbs or rasps on top.

in season , in season.. Laughing but if it gets the kids eating it (and its only 3oz in about 2 lb of museli ) I can live with that. I know that sugar free muesli is a bit far off for my two at the moment.
