House for tomorrowHaving just watched http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7348940.stm
I notice that the view put forward is is not significantly different in concept to previous 'houses of the future'. That is focus on consumerism and technology with reliance on ample supplies of electricity. There some nods towards solar gain, monitoring energy usegae and water consumption but very little in the way of living sustainably or overall energy impact. The materials used seem to be wholly man made.

This is "the future is science fiction." That is bollocks, as we all know. The future is in Bio-tech, in-home power production, waste and sewage disposal (preferably as much as possible in-house) and other minimum impact ideas.
And floating Islands, let's not forget those.

In the future, we'll eat little pills to get our nurishment, wear silver clothes and live in total harmony with one another. Our computers will have flashing lights and deep booming voices. Cars will hover a few feet above the ground.
It'll be great.

Not in York. I swear I saw some Vikings in the last traffic jam I got caught in.
