How Much Does My Tractor Weigh?

I have bought a Leyland 272 Tractor from the North of England, and I'm getting quotes to transport it down South.

TractorData.com shows it as weighing 3400Kg. This sounds excessive for a 70HP tractor! Perhaps this includes the towing weight too?

I have a friend with a transport company but can't carry it if it exceeds 2800kg as he'll get in trouble if he's pulled over and weighed.

Does anyone know the weight of this tractor, or have a ball park figure for the curb weight of a tractor this size?

Seems likely

Thanks

But it gives a weight of 3400kg, which I think is the total weight of the tractor with impliments, or loaded trailer. I'm after the basic empty weight for transport purposes.

I thought the spec was for the basic build, but could be wrong.

The 272 is an heavy old tractor,
Thats about the weight,tractor alone.
Rob R

It's a big chunk of metal, could easily be 3.5t
tarabella

Thanks for the replies, 3.4 tonnes it is then!

If anyone's interested it weighted in at just over 2.8T

As thats the max weight your mate can carry I would take it with a pinch of salt unless accompanied by a weigh bridge ticket.

Loosing 600kg from the makers spec is rather a lot.

Considering most cars on the road are around two tonnes I wouldn't consider 3.4 tonnes excessive for an old tractor.
tarabella

It didn't look overloaded when it arrived Smile

Is it my eyes,or does the tractor have narrow wheels?

That would reduce the weight a fair bit.
tarabella

They are ag tyres, but I did think the back wheels looked a little narrow, given the size of the tractor.
tarabella

Also don't some farmers fill the tyres with water ballest?
