Huge PigHere is a pic of a huge tamworth cross boar i picked up yesterday, he will be going to sally. My mate rang me and asked if i knew anyone who would want a big baconer. He is only 2 and has gowing left aswell. He stand 5 breeze blocks high, no seriously
Here he is next to a welsh sow.

We dropped him off at the abbatoir this morning, seeing him run off the trailer and down the ramp really brought home how big he was, the man at the abbatoir and defra people were shocked at his size! He is only 2 and still had 12 months growing left in him.

Thing is your pigs are hardly small, if they thought he was exceptionally big its a bit mind boggling

In the pic he is next to a fully grown welsh sow, ok she is short in the leg but still.

Now now, don't tease Chris about his toys Even big strong farming types need time off from muckspreading and running round with a sheep over each shoulder occasionally

Now now the picture was taken on my mates farm.

A Tamworth cross - what with? Wooly mammoth?

Wouldn't like to be around if he was cross
|
NeathChris

Tamworth x Large White i reckon. I wouldnt fancy keeping a pig that big around the place, could be very dangerous.

He was duly collected today, and when Chris opened the boot to swap it into the van we really thought we'd been sent a cow by accident. I have never ever seen hams that big, not even in posh deli's in mediterranean places. I'm a strong girl but I couldnt lift them, had to get a bloke to help
Gareth has just fairly heroically dismembered him into more manageable chunks, the ribs were nearly 2 foot long, the shoulderblades had ridges of bone I only thought you got on dinosaurs, and as an idea of how much meat we are trying to find freezer space for, the only bit we have weighed so far is the traditional bacony bit and that came in at 80lb
I think we're eating well this summer

Pig in a Day ?
Must (have) be(en) quite a sight.

I wish I'd had a camera to hand, the size of the beast was not exaggerated in earlier postings. We've only tried a little panfried slice of the fillet so far, but that was stunning. Fab flavour, looking forward to tasting him properly tomorrow whan I'm not so shattered.

Well, I couldnt lift them out of the van alone, and I can heft a big sack of spuds without any real trouble.
