I can't open my pickles!

Just wondered if anyone can help - I can't open my pickles! They are in LeParfait flip-lid-style jars, and the vacuum is so strong the lids won't come off. Any tips? Thanks!

Do you know to pull the sticky-out rubber lip until you break the seal?
sarahloo

No, I didn't know that! *feels stupid*
Thanks! Smile

I only found that out when someone told me - and after I'd managed to ruin a knife and a jar lid trying to break the seal.
Mr O

A knife between the lid and the seal often works, if inserted carefully and then twisted. Pulling the rubber thing has never worked for me.

A good hard tug with a set of pliers works for me.

Gripping it with a tea towel for me. If I need to.

Took us ages to work it out.
Mr O

Those rubber bits need to be bigger, so you can get a decent grip on them.

The times I've said that.

Nothing to do with storage jars mind you.

I've got a thing called a Boa, a length of rubber in a handle, possibly Lakeland? Very good for any size jar or bottle, it's never failed me yet, super leverage.
