I'm just dipping my toe

into downsizing - recently acquired 3 ex-battery Warrens.

Very interesting site, esp. the poultry stuff for a beginner - thanks for relieving the boredom of my working day!

Welcome. Very Happy

We may relieve boredom but be warned Downsizer can be addictive and distracting.

Welcome - how are your hens recovering? I so enjoyed watching ours become real hens again!

Thanks for the welcome. I am already addicted - good job I no longer work for a company with an IT Dept monitoring internet usage!

The girls have been a revelation - having read all the dire warnings about the sorry state they'd be in, it's incredible how quickly their natural instincts have kicked in. It's been just over 3 weeks now so apart from their bald fronts you'd never know. They demanded to be let back in to their temporary coop on just the 2nd night as it started to get dark, and have got used to layers pellets, not to mention slugs, worms, tomatoes and grapes. Oh, and they've wrecked most of the grass, but hey, that's a small price to pay for the steady supply of eggs!

12. That's nothing. We have 6 hens, a cock, 7 Sussex (for eating), and 6 Guinea Fowl (for eating).

Be afraid, be very afraid. Poultry keeping is addictive.

And good luck.

Cool lorrainelovesplants has already warned me that I'll be buying some hatching eggs from her - I was cooing over her LS chicks at the time

3's definitely enough though!
