IBC tap replacementA bit of a long shot...we broke the tap on our IBC unit which we use to collect water from the house, and now it wont hold the water. Has anyone got a replacement tap unit they are willing to part with (for P&P costs etc.) or know where I could get one (the ones on ebay seem a bit expensive considering the cost of getting a whole new unit!). We don't want to have to get a whole new unit just so we can replace the tap. |

You can get replacement valves on e-bay but I haven't a clue how you fit them.

string,coathanger,glue
then screw the tap onto the fixed nut on the inside 
it works for a variety of similar situations so it might be worth a try |

As it turns out it came off very easily from the outside. There is a large metal threaded nut-like thing (???) that unscrews from the front and the whole tap unit just pulls away. |

that is good ,hard to reach lock nuts are well fiddly .
we forgot to add an oil drain tap to a huge baffled air filter for the auto fettling exhaust when i was dibnahing textile machines ,the string trick saved un welding the lid
All sorted now though. We have decided we don't actually need a tap, and have bought an adaptor and blanking cap (effectively sealing the contents in), which is a lot cheaper. We just use the tank for water, and then immerse a pump through the top to get the water where we need it.
