ice pack gel "granules"

are they safe in the compost.

my instinct is food grade and water retaining should be ok

what do you think?
Mistress Rose

Not quite sure what they are. I wouldn't think they would break down, so they will be with you for ever more, even if they don't do any harm. Make sure your feathered or furry friends don't eat them as I can't think they would do them any good.
Nick

They won’t break down. You might not want them to tho. It’ll help your soil hold water.
It’s sodium polyacrylate I think.

thanks, i thought they looked very like the water retaining gel stuff sold for containers and pots

a new box with added damp Cool

polystyrene fish boxes are ace as planters, re used, light, and they last quite a few years if handled with care(dont pull them by an edge when they are wet Embarassed )
