Imaging devices no longer recognised in Win2KHmm, that's a nuisance.
A few weeks ago I foolishly "reorganised" the wiring of my various USB devices, and in so doing managed to connect a USB headset to the place where the digital camera used to go, and the camera into some other port. Sadly, Win2K isn't very good at handling this and threw a bit of a strop: despite thoroughly removing the Canon software (including the oemxx.ini files) and re-installing it, and despite some technical advice from Canon, my machine no longer recognises the presence of the digital camera. Instead, the removable device icon appears in the system tray, and a yellow exclamation mark shows under "imaging devices" in device manager.
Like I say, it has been like this for a while; no recent urgency to get photos onto the computer, and I just know that researching and fault-finding the problem will take ages. Hence, it gets put off.
Unfortunately, I just went to use my flatbed/neg scanner, which is on a completely different port and has never been disconnected, only to find that this too isn't recognised.
So... there seems to be something fundamentally wrong with "imaging device" USB connectivity on this machine. I don't have anything more concrete than that at the moment; may report more findings as and when they're made. For now however, anyone any immediate thoughts?
