Insurance

I have a small field (4 acres) to which I am soon to introduce some lambs. This is my first foray into stockholding. Should I seek out some sort of insurance? Can anyone recommend an insurance company?

NFU were the most use when we looked, although they're not very interested, unless they can also do the home, and possibly the contents.

Thank you. I am already with them for my home and contents, although the field isn't near my property.

We use NFU

NFU (as already mentioned) seem quite good about extending cover to other aspects of home / livestock / food businesses / machinery

We found the NFU's min policy levels far to high for smallholders.
try otterry & others in the smallholding mags.
Also due the the recent statments by the NFU re smallholders I will not be using them anyway.

we have been with the NFU for a good ten years. i do like that fact that they have local offices where you can get to know the local chappie and they will come out, look around and be there if you need them.

however - our local rep changed a couple of years ago, don't like the new fellow much. think we are paying too much and it might be time to look around.

NFU here, too.

Strangely enough they insure our arts centre. Historically it was the corn exchange though, so maybe that explains it.

yup NFU here too -

our house insurance went down when we moved to NFU - only now they cover the outbuildings, and the 'if the sheep wander onto the motorway, cause a pile up......' scenerio...
