Jews ear?Hi guys, having never foraged for wild mushrooms before I am very cautious over identifying them - despite having 3 really excellent books.
I found this growing on a dead Elder log the other day and whilst it looked really past its best, it was still jelly-like and I think it is Jews Ear...

Yup. It dries really well and can be used ground up to flavour casseroles and soups.

Oh cool... thanks so much  I was fairly sure it was Jews Ear but, well, I don't want to take any chances with 'shrooms.

That is a Jews ear, or as HFW calls them........wood ear.
