The casting on looks a bit complicated

I find it quite a rare thing that one particular method of casting on is absolutely necessary rather than the pattern writers choice of cast on. There are a few exceptions to this, like seamless toe up socks. i suspect the choice of cast on 9in this one is to do with getting even stripe widths, you could deal with that issue by making a single colour hat or using a single variegated yarn. |
