knitted scarf brainstorm needed

A friend of mine who cannot knit has asked me to knit her s scarf like one she has seen somewhere Confused

She has sent me a pic of a knitted square from a book which she would like at both ends of the scarf and on both sides of the scarf.

the square is intarsia knitted which I haven't a problem with at all but am not sure whether I should consider knitting a double width scarf and fold over and stitch into a tube, knit on a cable or do two scarves and place them back to back.

I am feeling a little out of my depth - I am fine following a pattern for any knitting really but having to create the pattern is scaring me half to death - any thoughts??

the knitted square she wants incorporating is this one (not necessarily those colours)

mochyn

I'd do it in the round. No sewing!

I'd consider doing a single width scarf for most of the length, in a double sided stitch, then when you get near the end, switching to stocking stitch doing the pattern, knitting to the end, doing a knit row for the end can help make a neat fold, and then repeating the patterned bit and folding it over and sewing it into place.

Now thats an idea but would require a new skill of double sided stitch being learnt - never done that Confused

shout if you need help. I'll help you work out details of a pattern as well if you would like
