Knitted shopping bagThanks to a knitting magazine and some jumbo needles I managed to produce a knitted shopping bag, which I just wanted to do because I could I did have a go at http://tiajudy.com/stringbag.htm but my needle was too small, and my fingers too clumsy, and I ran out of cotton, so I took it apart and did this one instead
Very quick - most of the main body is garter stitch on 20mm needles and the ribbing on 6mm so even I could finish it in a couple of evenings.
It's a decent size but I still had cotton left (a 100g ball of crochet cotton for about £1.30 from the hardware shop) so I did a lattice stich face cloth (got enough dishcloths) - my first attempt at knitting any stitch more complicated than rib.
So now I can be well fed and clean

Thank you - it's satisfying to get something completed in a sensible length of time. I've put myself back on socks now as punishment for enjoying myself too much...see you in about six months...

That looks good
I'm currently crocheting a shopping bag (single crochet gusset and around the base, then fishnet, then will have single crochet around the top and as a strap). It's my first real attempt at making anything with crochet as it's not my strong point, but it's coming along ok and should be a good-sized bag.
