Lancashire hot pot making ahead

Can I prepare it today and cook it tomorrow if I cover the top potato layer in foil?
sean

Yes. But it'll be better if you cook it today and reheat it tomorrow.

Yep

And, it's just as good with carrots in it, or not. Irk the purists.
Snowball

Thanks, will cook today, with carrots. Very Happy

Make today & brush with melted marg /butter to stop pots going brown. Or prep it all but leave pots in a bowl covered in water.

Call it Yorkshire Hotpot. It'll cook itself.

When working in a large open-plan office in the middle of Liverpool, a contractor (from London) asked whoever was standing around his desk, what actually is the difference between "Scouse" and "Lancashire Hotpot", without thinking about possible consequences, I ventured "with Lancashire hotpot, the ingredients will have been purchased."

It was a full ten minutes before the expletives died down.
