Latest winter ediblesI ran a foray on Boxing day on the coast line around here. A great day was had by all. Coming into season already are new growth of red Valerian leaves. Very good when young and small excellent in a winter salad with wood sorrel, peny wort, alexander leaf and bittercress. Always worthwhile adding another couple of salad leaqves to bulk out and for texture contrasts. I also add crushed roasted chestnuts.
