Lion's Manes and more in the new forest

Went for a weekend away in the new forest to see the deer rut. Wonderful amounts of fungi, it was simply ridiculous. The coolest find by far was these:

I believe they're Hericium erinaceus, Lion's Mane, but as we were away from the kitchen they stayed where they were.

Plenty of huge ceps too and other boletus-type thingies

hundreds of these fellas too.

saw a few other things I wouldn't have minded foraging too....

Northern Boy

Great stuff, I have never seen one of those in the 'flesh'. Supposed to be tasty as well.

Great pics - I saw one of these a couple of years ago in the New Forest. Edible but too rare to eat, especially with the industrial quantities of Ceps etc to pick. Laughing

We have one that turns up sometimes in our wood. Sadly the tree it is in has fallen over, but that bit may remain. If so we will leave it in the undergrowth to continue.

This one was also on a fallen tree as it happens. I believe Lion's Mane is relatively easy to culture for those that way inclined.
