Well, yes, easier to obtain if you're a suckling camelid, of course
No one milks them to produce any kind of product? I ask 'cos I was just talking to someone who wants some for a research project.

Sorry: couldn't resist.
You could ask dulcillama for a serious answer.

What SORT of research project? Even if it's not commercially available you might find someone with one tame enough to milk ...

Oh, its to do with what proteins you get in milk and working out a way to extract them most efficiently. Nothing particularly contentious. Dunno why she asked me to be honest, but I was completely stumped for an answer. I'm sure I've heard of llama cheese at some point in the past.

Search on the above page on 'Gaussian'. Apparently powdered alpaca milk is available, which implies that someone must extract it from the alpacas in the first place ...

LIAR!
You're only interested because someone's got a chocolate llama for sale, and you're thinking of opening a Nesquik farm.

I wondered how long it would be before someone caught on...

i heard that llamas could not be milked in any meaningful way because they literally produce only a mouthful at a time - baby llamas suckle very little, very often.
camels can though.
I should imagine powdered milk for alpacas contains someting other than alpaca milk.
