Look - embellisher! (dry felting)Look what I got today
one beautiful embellisher
I've been at summer school cramming a year's worth of city and guilds feltmaking into a week (including design).
But this is what I really wanted to get my hands on and it took me until Wednesday before I was allowed to.
But now I have one of my own
and... in all seriousness - if you want good customer service in Chelmsford, Colchester or Ipswich Franklins are fab.
They didn't have the model I wanted in my local branch so a staff member bought one to my door to save me the journey!
How good is that (and they were £10 cheaper than anywhere on the internet)

Yeah but we need to see photos (lots of) of what it actually does.

Excellent What does it do?

Sorry
Take a felting needle...times it by 5....make those 5 needles jump up and down very, very quickly as a sewing machine does...
= lots of needle felt

Congratulations Frewen, I hope it gives you many hours of pleasure.
I don't know what it does either,

My mind is reeling - not just creating needlefelt but other textural work (it will felt all sorts not just sheepy fibres).
Maybe - 3D too - with a bit of manipulation
As soon as I make something worthwhile I'll post it

There is a finger guard - although some models do without - I actually quite like my fingers (and this one always stops inthe "needle up" position too )

Good grief, that didn't take long! (you should have heard her raving about it - even himself thought she was a bit nuts, and he used to me and my odd inspired enthusiasms!)
Hope it's lots of fun.

Don't walk away.
It is fab - and in conjunction with a bit of Nuno felt (or not) and a sewing machine ....
....just think what you could do
Get one .....

We badly need some kind of equipment co-op going. In order to join you must own at least one fibre related toy that you are prepared to lend out to a member of the group for a minimum of, say, 6 weeks per annum if it's wanted by someone. Everyone will lend (if their bit of kit is in demand) and thus agrees to look after the equipment as if it thier own. A small membership fee is paid by each member, which is maintained in a slush fund for genuine accidental damage or careless use. If necessary, a deposit can be held in the fund from the borrower, in case of damage etc. If a surplus of funds is created, new toys are bought by agreeement to be shared equally by the group. A fibre toy library! Getting things around would be the hardest thing, but I bet we could manage even that via the Downsizer network.
