Looking for the good life...Hi everyone, I'm new around here but not new to the concept of this place
Having been reducing my environmental impact for the last few years I have, this last year, started growing my own fruit and veg (an ambition I finally managed to get off - or rather in - the ground). I'm also quite an avid forager and am happily learning to identify some new species each time I wander out.
I was lucky enough, when out collecting some Fat Hen today for soup, to stumble across some bountiful cherry plum trees - the jam is setting as I type!
Hope to glean more insights into the world of sustainability and foraging from you guys and hopefully contribute with some tips, recipes and general chitchat too!

Nah, we're not into all that here, you won't be very welcome just kidding
How did you stumble upon DS, was it anything to do with cherry plums by any chance?
And are you really purple?

Hello and welcome -
pull up a chair and waste your whole day with us chatting about really interesting things that will be of use on obscure pubquizzes.
No, really, the info on here is realy good, and most times the senseof humour too.

Awwww... thank you all for the lovely welcome
I'm in the North Warwickshire part of the Midlands, it's the poor cousin to the more upper crust South Warwickshire and yes, I am purple, but only after foraging for blackberries
Talking of which.. what an amazing early crop of brambles already! Am filling the freezer up and there are thousands waiting to ripen off. An early crop and a bumper crop, my favourite kind
Also noticed a Rowan today which, though not ripe, is absolutely loaded with fruit.
Ps I can vouch for cherry plum and bramble crumble *rubs her tummy*

I think its a reference to a comedy series based in a village called Royston Vasey rather than vegplot showing any anti- Norwegian tendencies

Thank you. Greatly relieved. Now I can clutch my teddy and go to sleep with a smile on my face
Welcome, Purplegirl. This is actually a rather nice place and you should be prepared to *waste* a lot of time here. Some of the stuff is mindboggling as well as mouthwatering. Enjoy!
