Lost Bookmarks

I moved over to Mozilla Firefox a few months back. All working well on my new laptop, but yesterday all of my Bookmarked websites had disappeared.
Anyone any ideas?
Are they lurking somewhere and can I get them back?
Or gone for good?

firefox stores bookmarks as a file called bookmarks.html and there should also be a backup.

where the file is depends on your os.

assuming windows, look in documents and settings/your id/application data/mozilla/firefox/something random looking/

Or something like that, I dont run windows so thats from memory. you could search for bookmarks.*

like MarkS says the bookmarks are generally stored as a html file

you could try searching for a file called bookmarks.html, if you just search for *bookmark* you will allow for any variation in file naming

Also install FEBE from here:

http://customsoftwareconsult.com/extensions/

You can back up all your Firefox extensions, bookmarks etc, I've set it to back mine up automatically daily.

You must set the ad_network_ads_377.txt file to be writable (check file name as well).
