I often get funny looks when I describe maths as beautiful and inspiring.
I very much view maths as 'music in the land of the deaf'. Anyone (who isn't deaf) can appreciate music without 'understanding' it here. But, if everyone was deaf and someone was reading sheet music of a Mozart symphony and oohing and aahing, he/she would get funny looks too! But, it's all just incomprehensible squiggles on the page.....isn't it?

It is the language of the universe...
The programmes - the first of which you've now missed if you didn't catch it on iPlayer - were about how mathematics shapes and defines music: e.g. the mathematics of musical temperament.
I didn't catch the programmes myself - just posted here in case others were interested.
