the last 24 has been interesting .
all i needed to do was change who payed the standing order ,well.
to do that they needed to :
change the modem , fiddle with wires and beepy things ,change my phone number and bring me no pin or account numbers and some software and 3 phone numbers .
it only took 2 hours and 5 phone calls (including one with language difficulties )to resolve things so as i am back on line .
but
iam now having go slows ,hangs and what did you do to me dpack .
could it be the new stuff conflicts with what i run from startup ?
is it safe to turn off this new stuff , i never used before and i probably use better things than this with the broadband package software
?

that last line reads like what is left of my mind .
the question is .
if all was well pre changes ,is there any good reason i should not uninstall ntl's anti virus and broadband medic and continue with avast and various other bits n bobs ?

i did some serious cleaning and tidied up .it seems a little better .

i uninstalled ntl net security package
now so far it works again ,
i still trust avast .
i will put the cleaners in again .

I didn't bother with any of the ntl security stuff. I use sygate firewall and avg anti virus

I left the Ntl security stuff and still use my avg free edition and lavasoft adware. Lavasoft picks up loads still so I can't see what the Ntl stuff is doing TBH.

pretty much the sort of thing i have .now it works well , and the extra broadband width seems to work .
i spose if you were starting from a clean hd it would work ?
maybe .
it seems to be working but what a kerfuffle to change over a few details .
im glad im not a bank
