MDS labour exchange days?

Right then. New Year, New Resolutions etc. etc.. Without wanting to scare anyone with my crazed efficiency or have to hand my MDS award back, anyone in the Montgomeryshire area interested in this labour-swap thing?

1. We each identify a task that will take a group of about half a dozen or so a day to do.
2. We organise some dates that we can all do.
3. We all pitch up and do it.
4. Afterwards we all have a nice big meal and some beer/wine and bask in the glow of our achievements.

It's going to take ages to plan ahead and at the moment there are five couples who have expressed and interest; so that's five dates we'd all have to find. Should we see how feasible it is and perhaps people could just do three or four of them if they couldn't make them all?

At the moment Arvo and I can do:

March: 1, 2, 22, 23
April: 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
May: 3, 4, 10, 11, 18, 24, 25
June: 7, 8, 21, 22, 28, 29

We have some things to do that might involve hiring a mini-digger Smile.

That was bothering me too, but I was too intimidated by her efficiency to say!

How many dates are you going to book for everyone to come round and 'help' t'other 'arf finish the building? Laughing Or maybe even a goose ark...

I reckon we could make a small dent in the work if I book all the dates up to mid-June! Rolling Eyes

Have you tried to foist your goose-ark on Pookie? She actually HAS geese. Smile.

Re the mini-digger, we are going to drive it round the back over the front garden and up the back of the house, now made accessible by the removal of the conservatory, and dig our way in to the bit of the hill that is collapsing in to the house.

Easy! Smile.

I don't actually have either, but NL is trying to convince me that I need both!

I know I'm out of the area but I think this is a great idea. If anyone is interested in it sliding over into a wider part of Wales, I'm happy to offer my help if you can actually find a weekend I'm free Smile At some point I want to have a garden clearing party prior to terracing our slope, so will be looking for bribable helpers then too Smile

You aren't that far away, are you? I think when the idea was mooted we were thinking a day at each venue, that being a bit easier to fit in to everyone's diaries; it would probably have to be a whole weekend though if we were to come to you? Arvo and I would be up for a weekend swap though, we have loads of stuff we need to do that need person-power and if we book far enough ahead we can fit it in.

'sOK - Judith has all the equiptment just growing around the place. I can't be certain that it'll work, but it's a nice idea I think: a living-willow arc.

Ummm... I'd be VERY careful: could be that you'll make the 'hill collapsing into the house' worse...

Don't know about us yet: both up to our ears with life, the universe and everything at the mo.

Ditto, it's going to be mammoth to organise; I only have so much headspace if I don't write things down Smile.

Yep, joined that one a few weeks ago Ali and new members local to me are joining every week too. Have to see how it works out.
alisjs

I seem to be alone in my area at the mo....but as you say, see how it goes.
woodsprite

I've just joined too. What a great idea!
Chez

Yes, me too.
