Melted jacket

Was out strimming in the rain t'other day, had a pretty new Paramo jacket on, one of those water repellent type of things, noticed yesterday there's a big melted hole under my arm where the exhaust from the strimmer probably was Shocked

The holes at least 2cm and there's a big patch of melted fabric around it.

Oo-errr. 'Snot cheap either that Paramo stuff.
tahir

Nope. Wonder if they'll patch it up?

I'd suspect that the guarantee excludes damage caused by clutching a small internal combustion engine in your armpit. On the other hand they may not have considered the possibility.

At least when you write your autobiography you can name one of the chapters "Full Melted Jacket". I would suggest you should have used a scythe although I expect you would be posting up about missing toes today. Hopefully you took care not to strim the trees? Wink

I would email Paramo and ask if they can send you a repair kit. Sewing it up won't affect the waterproof qualities, and your coat will be "saved". They're quite good at responding to queries - or at least, were a few years ago. Good luck - from another Paramo fan!

They will repair, although it's unlikley to be under gurantee! I recall repairs being quite expensive, though. My trousers have scuffed quite badly round the ankles (cos I'm short), and I caught one on a stile and it tore - still perfectly waterproof, despite having a gaping hole in, though! Lesson one is repair before you damage it more, lesson two, it probably won't make any difference to the waterproofing, so why bother?! Wink Laughing

We're waiting for it to stop raining long enough to send both our jackets back for new zips - it seems to be their one achilles heel - the zips on both of ours are a real pain it the bum. Still worth it's weight in gold, though.
