Wingham wool work - recent order from them contained a statement saying that their fleece was now sourced without this practice

any other suppliers (of without mulesing wool) would be good to know too.
i did a blog post about it, and feel good cos I drew this to the attention of a couple of people who had never heard of mulesing, so feel yay.. I'm making a difference. Only now they want to know where they can buy from..

Yup - Sept 2009 update
Statement from Wingham's supplier of Merino which is used for dying...
"We know about the problem of mulesing and the PETA activities. Mulesling is a problem of Australian wool. About 2 years ago we starting to stop using Australian wool. Today (more than 1 year) we are completely free of any wool that could have been subject to mulesling of the sheep".

Good on them!
I spoke to them about it a couple of years ago and they said they were trying to sort it. I just thought it was a bit of sales speak but bloody well done Wingham!

its definately a great relief, they were one of the simpler places to order fibre for use at work from, and I'm really glad they have got that sorted out

You can get a lot of what you need in one order, although I did talk to them the other day because one of their pinks was taking an *age* to felt
Apparently nothing has changed in the processing though

I find that with a russet and a turquoise from crafty notions. It's ok for me but can be a problem at workshops.

Was it a very hot pink? I had some really really scarily pink pink from them, knowing the littlest girls would love it in workshops, and we couldn't get it to felt easily compared to the other shades. Funny how some dyes do that.

It was a dusky rose pink - delicious colour, wouldn't swell though !
I've blended the rest of the bag

I guess that's the power of enough people asking.

Hello.....
Caught up with this thread at last
I have merino....English Merino wth no mulesing and low fibre miles!! Also Corridale and Merino x.....not sure with what but think its shetland!
Some is coloured and I can dye it for you if you want. It is not going to be in factory made tops or rovings as I havent got a roving attachment for the big carding machine yet....like hens teeth to get
So if you want shocking pink English merino just ask
