Midnight prowler

Woke up in the middle of the night to my terrier yapping excitably which isn't like him. (He's not yappy).
Went to investigate & found him mauling a ball of spines in the corner of the sitting room.
Must have come through the cat flap as I know hedgehogs can climb a little but not up a tree, through an open window & down the stairs.
Put the burglar out in the garden after securing the dog & watched it till it unfurled & walked away unharmed & went back to bed.
Should have taken some photos but I felt it had been stressed enough & a flash gun popping in its face might be too much.
First time I've seen one in the garden here in nearly 30 years let alone indoors.
That's a grey squirrel & a hedgehog that have wanted to move in in just over a week.
Very Happy

Your place is beginning to sound like Percy the Park Keepers house! Laughing Laughing

Wondering what's coming next.
Fox, badger, roe!!!
I had a cat many years ago that brought in a live baby adder & proceeded to play with it under the kitchen table.
Luckily mogs didn't get struck
I think mother nature is trying to tell me I need to do some housework.
Inside is starting to resemble outdoors.

When I lived in Tooting a fox got into the kitchen through the cat flap. Shocked

My dad once brought a young jackdaw home........(he was always bringing home stray things).
My mother just pointed a finger at the door....didnt speak, but her face....never forgot it! Surprised

A couple of weeks ago I went over to pick some chook food up from a friends. Whilst I was there, we saw a half grown fox actually in one of the runs (surrounded by weldmesh!) eating out of the feeders with chooks alongside it! I'd taken a photo of the pen seconds before and you just can't see it! Ginger is a survival trait!
We live close by Crowle Moor, also called Thorne Waste, which has been described as the "Last great wilderness iin England" in the local paper. All I can say is I'VE never seen any wildebeeste or rhinoceruseruses or wilderness stuff like that there!

Whilst shutting in the chooks last night my terrier discovered the hedgehog again outside my polytunnels. He picked it up, gave it a shaking & eventually dropped it.
Put it in a pet carrier with a bowl of water & a sachet of cat food.
It looked ok by headlight when I checked an hour later but I will have a closer look (& take a few daylight photos) in a while.
One very lucky hedgehog.
