Why AA in particular? I'd PM Cris (ReevesRareBreeds) and Rob to see what they've got (non AA) Bodger's not too far, he might let you have some off Billy the Bull.

Good idea, Tahir. I will do - AA only because everyone tells me that nothing can beat it ....

I think you'll find that Rob (Dexter), Rich (Hereford), and plenty of others will disagree.

... as would a chap I know who runs a rare breeds farm at Druidstone Haven, S. West and woolly Wales - mind you, that is too far to go - a bit like Cambridge for me!

You should try and find welsh black, absolutely beautiful! Google welsh black cattle society for a list of breeders.

I'm with Chris on Welsh Black: the best beef I've ever had. In fact, at the risk of offending him I'd say it was the beef equivalent of Tamworth pork (Ducks rather smartish...)

You will have to try welsh pork, im sure it will convert you! Taste, crackling and more fleshy meat, especially the hams.

... sorry, but you are all too late - I managed to pick up a rack of ribs from a local farm that raises organic Aberdeen Angus , as originally recommended and I will report back here if they were any good with the name and address of the supplier - they do free range organic venison on the farm as well. I have had chicken from the same place and it is cheaper and tons better than anything I have tasted from a supermarket.

P.S. Here is a link to suppliers of Welsh Black

... unfortunately, there are no suppliers around here, but I will make a note of the butcher in St. Merryn, Cornwall as I am there most years.

Bit late now, but the best beef I cooked this year was Sussex steer, raised in Sussex. Bought at a Sara Raven Food Market (and reared on their farm - probably saw it in the field the previous year).
