We should be going on to new spuds at work this week. For a brief period of the year I earn £17/hour for peeling spuds.

We dug our first ones a fortnight ago
No special treatment, just 'Rocket' planted straight in the garden.

How are you doing with 'rocket' this year? I'm finding them to be tasty but lower yielding than normal.

Dunluce (?) in a pot in the greenhouse, just over 1 kilo from 2 tubers, 17p each, seems pretty good value And tasty too.

Better yield than last year I think, but I've kept on top of the watering this year. Last year I seriously underestimated the efficacy of raised beds on freely draining soil. I'm used to gardening on clay.

I can beat that.
Our first batch are roseval from some saved tubers of last years' maincrop. So, give or take a little backache, completely free!
I've also got 120 charlotte in which I had to pay for.

I'm very much looking forward to my Mona Lisas this year, although I found the wonder dog rolling around in the middle of them the other day, so all the 2 foot tall stems are now 2 foot long as they're lying on the ground........
