tell me more about your recipie?
I'm going to barrel some beer now. Anyone know how much priming sugar goes into a 40 pint barrel from the top of their head?

Which is 3 ounces for 40 pints.

That'll be twenty teaspoons
Or seven table spoons.

The Young's Harvest Mild instructions in front of me say 2 ounces maximum for 40 pints.

my woodfords wherry instructions said 1/2 a teaspoon etc. However it makes bugger all difference if the thread on your barrel is borked.

He says the thread on his barrel's fine AND he's got some vaseline

Okay, that's me retiring to lie down with some nice, soothing wet newspaper over my face and imagine some nice, banal images to blot that from my mind.

You've been reading that other thread started by Gaztafari.
I think it came to 3oz when I weighed out 20 tsps of sugar. Have certainly made bitter before with that amount in 40 pints, and not had burst or overfrothy bottles.
How about a compromise ? 2.5oz

Thanks for the clarification everyone. The destructions say 1/2 a teaspoon per pint in bottles or 2.5 Oz I went with the 20 teaspoons, saves having to weigh out the sugar into a clean pot. Do we think that Gil might know what she's talking about?
Anyway I think jonnyboy said something about a topic I think?
