In some respects it's better in the States than here. Most of the beekeepers are professional with hundreds of hives each so it's impacting livelihoods & the economy more. The primary business is pollination so the affect on agriculture is again much more evident. Neonics are used a lot more than here, & because the economic impact is so much greater the universities doing research are targeting the right areas to investigate. Here the government have allowed Syngenta (an agrochemical company) to co fund research, so universities are looking everywhere but neonics. I'm surprised someone in a white coat isn't blaming the problem on little green men to be honest. |
