Motivate me ...

I need to clean out the Boxes O'Carp in the utility room so our friends can paint tomorrow. But I'm lodged in front of the screen being useless. If I go and do half an hour, can I have some of Pookie's lemon sponge that she left behind yesterday, when I come back?
Northern_Lad

Move, woman!
Barefoot Andrew

I understand your pain Chez. I'm supposed to have done various technical jobs today, and I seem to have spent the last couple of hours day-dreaming and with associated idle surfing about new machines Very Happy

not getting much done here either...

Chez - eat the cake - then that will be tidied up!
Green Rosie

You'd better go or Northern_Lad will shout at you again Shocked
Chez

I quite like it when he's assertive with me, though Wink.

I have just put a load of stuff on freecycle and now I am going to have a bit of cake.

Only two more boxes to go through. And then will have enough space to attach worktop to the wall.

I always use post it notes, folded in half glue side out, to clean the keyboard.

Wonderful way to waste half an hour.

Stop talking about cakes! You have no idea what it's doing to my craving mind! I really want a Battenberg cake, but Barry couldn't find any at the shops. I'm doomed!
mochyn

Julie: could I have one too please?

With icing?

I've had on cake since the bit of Pookie's lemon sponge I had at Chez's yesterday.

haven't iced them yet but tried an experiment by putting a little jam in the middle of the mix as put in to each case. Jam sank but they still taste jammy just as they are ( think I need stiffer cake mix or runnier jam?)

NL did an article about making your own Battenburg cake.
Sorry, I shouldn't make it worse

Rather than jam I sometimes put a whole raspberry or similar on top before baking. Sort of sinks in and goes all yummy...

Oh, how excellent! Now, if only I had an appropriate cake tin.
Chez

I've done TWO boxes ... does that mean I can have two cakes? Laughing

Giving up now ... but tomorrow - a whole new day of chucking things out awaits! I'm finding it rather soothing now it's underway. Kind of stripping my life down to essentials.

sound's like it's more than worth two cakes to me Very Happy
wellington womble

I yearn to do this - let go of all my chattels and live in a camper van or a boat. To make life small and simple and manageble.

However, as I have to put up with all the disadvantages of living a very big, complex and unweildy life (mostly a lot of hoovering!) then I'll keep the advantages as well - cheifly, a lot of bookshelves!

Whadda you mean 'bit' of cake it was huge woman!

Wink Laughing
Chez

I would describe it as a 'worthwhile slice'.

Need SOOO much more motivation today - friends are coming to help us paint the downstairs white, Leo HATES his new playpen because it is EVIL EVIL EVIL I TELL YOU YES EVIL AND TRAPPING HIM SO I CAN'T CHEW THE POWER CABLES EVIL YES EVIL! and won't stop wailing, the key on my car has NOT come in to the garage at Newtown which means that Arvo has had a 30 mile round trip in vain and I've been up since 5am because of Chronic Teething Baby.

I think I might just leave him crying in the playpen for a bit and go and sit in the greenhouse.
Cathryn

That is a good plan because he is perfectly safe there. Wink

I am going to do allthe things I didn't do yesterday. However I am not listing them just to be on the safe side. Smile
Mrs Fiddlesticks

I've been powering down the To Do lists as its school hols; trying to chill and go with the flow ( or the rain Rolling Eyes)

the only thing truly on the list today is make lemon curd with the kids

Send Leo over - what's another boy in the house..

Yes it was, but I was desperately in need. Never mind the old chap brought home chocolate.

Feeling much better today, so things are getting done.
James

am I the only one wondering what boxes 'o carp are?

are they special boxes for storing carp in? if so, why do they need painting? I presume the carp are dead when they're put in the boxes?
Frewen

Re-arrange the two middle letters Wink
James

Rolling Eyes

its a slow day
Frewen
