mowing Cathryn's garden lawn with a scytheSome more photos, when Gil decided to mow the lawn at Cathryn's, after the Carmarthen weekend.
I'd got well stuck into it before I thought about taking pics - two rows already done, with the grass thrown into a line to the lefthand side of each swathe.
You don't have to cut a massive amount with each swing, just nose the end of the blade through the next grass
The mown grass will collect on your balde, and you can just sweep it to the lefthand side with an extra pass

Might be, I didn't plant it. Gil did you remember to take some of the purple elder?

Opening up the third swathe now, out of the awkward corner, and past the New Zealand flax (thanks for the plant ID)
About 2 and a half rows done

Cathryn tries out the scythe, and cuts a swathe through the grass
