Mrs Fiddlesticks' Flapjack Challenge at DS Skills Weekend

What do you think guys? Shall we surrender a tray of our favourite recipe flapjacks for tastings and votings? I'll supply a prize for the winner if you're up for it!

All comments welcome (and if you want this in a poll that's fine too Rolling Eyes Laughing )

Edited for typo in title before someone points it out Embarassed
Chez

I'm a bit scared by the concept - both Mochyn AND Pookie are going to be coming, you know! Laughing
Fee

That sounds like a very good idea! Very Happy

Can we enter something experimental too, as a separate class? Wink

Marmite flapjack anyone? Laughing
Green Rosie

Is that flapjack with or without coconut?
mochyn

I've got my mum's recipe for cheese flapjacks...

There is something terribly wrong about a cheese flapjack.

but the trays will be anonymouse so no one will know. Blind tasting so no one need be intimidated...
Chez

I might be tempted. If anonymity is carefully preserved.

I am *interested* in the concept of cheese flapjacks. But they do sound slightly suspicious-making.
lettucewoman

yep - I'll join in!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
vegplot

can if you like! I thought we all could and vote.
Jamanda

Sean does a good flapjack.
Fee

Keep it clean now, Jamanda, this is a family forum! Wink

I've got an idea, I have zillions of little wooden counters that get worked up into stuff for the shop, if I bring a bagful, and issue everyone with say, 5, they can award them to flapjacks tasted as anonymous points scored. The flapjack with the most counters at the end is the winner. Nice and diplomatic that way Smile
Snowball

That's an excellent idea Sally.
I will try and persuade Amipest to enter.
Mrs Fiddlesticks

that would work perfectly Sally! Very Happy

I was otherwise thinking clipboard (begging your pardon MJ) and pens and voting things
wellington womble

I've never made flapjack's - I might be tied up with other stuff that week, but if it's not more than I can manage just to get us there, then I'll give it a go.

I LOVE the sound of cheese flapjacks - savory baking is almost always better than sweet - cheese profiteroles are a case in point!
Gervase

Me neither - never even tried making one, though I do like eating them. Bagsies be a judge!
Mrs Fiddlesticks

bumpity bump. Is there still interest in doing this? Do we have a competition?
Jamanda

Sean might be persuaded if Ruby will let him in the kitchen.
Cathryn

There is an unfortunate tendency amongst my friends to turf me out of the kitchen (with bottle and glass in hand). Rolling Eyes So of course he is welcome.

I'm not sure how well I cope with rejection so will consider hard before entering this. Smile
Fee

I'm thinking I might try some different flavours of flapjack, going to try some raspberry ones I think, at least. It's been quite a while since I made flapjack, so I better have a practice so that I don't make anyone spew Laughing
Mrs Fiddlesticks

So Mrs Fiddlesticks Flapjack Challenge is on for the DS weekend.

It will be set up in the party barn during Saturday afternoon amongst the barter stalls

I'll set up a list to allocate numbers to entrants so that its anonymouse and only a number will identify the batch. Its all about taste rather than display so the box you bring them in will be fine

- unless
a) everyone knows its your tin so please put them in something more neutral to be fair
b) you're really in to the doily thing in which case bring your own

Please cut or break up in to small pieces so that as many folk as wants to can have a taste. Voting will be by wooden counters (thanx sally)and simply the one with the most counters by it is the winner. There will be a small prize

Anything I've not thought of please suggest
Fee

What, you mean pieces aren't to be in specific sizes, down to the nearest mm, and those that do not fit those requirements will be penalised? Wink Good-oh Smile

I tried making some for the first time in quite a few years, and they taste like lumps of sugar Laughing I'm off to try again (with a bit less sugar this time) Wink

size up to you I think. But the smaller the more can taste and vote Wink

would be good to add the winning recipe to the DS recipe data base at some point as well I think!
