Multi layered jellyDoes anyone know how long I need to leave jelly to set before I can add another layer on top without it mixing? Can I put it in the freezer for a bit to speed it up?

Not a clue, but good luck. I imagine you can put it in the freezer. You can also add a couple of ice cubes when you mix the jelly to help it set faster.

I usually try to get the jelly cubes to dissolve in half the amount of boiling water, then top up with cold [no ice cubes here, usually].

Don't leave it in the freezer too long or it will turn cloudy. A quick stay will help speed things a long - just don't forget it!!

I've been pondering jelly a lot lately. I keep seeing recipes for really nice sounding layered ones, like milk and coffee or milk and honey jelly.

What a nice twist.
Bet that would look great layered, then jelly could look cool and be an acceptable adult dessert. Everyone loves jelly, just some adults think its only for kids.

Another jelly fan here - yeh those do sound good, Anna.
Milk and almond as one layer, with apricot.
Ginger and lime
Even just the same flavour jelly but in layers, one using milk, the other water.

Jelly is yummy
These are 'spooky jellies' with jelly sweets in for our halloween party. I've done two colours in each

If you stand the bowl so it's higher on one side (put something under one edge), letting that layer set, then tolt in the other direction for the next layer and so on, you have jelly a la zizi.
That's a 1960s Zena Skinner recipe!

I've always fancied gin and tonic jelly. Is that a bit naff?

Well, if you can have champagne jelly why not? Should I make the old chap and judith a Mws Piws one?

No thank you. If it's all the same to you.
Some things are just meant to be drunk.

My mother used to regularly make Honeycomb Mould when I was small, excitingly for her in those days it was an instant mix out of a packet (oh so modern) and self separated into jelly and bubbly mousse. I wonder if it still exists? Not the kind of thing I yearn for, though.
