Mushrooms for dyeingJust thought this may be of interest to those of you that regularly bring shrooms home but occasionally find you have a species not good for eating when you triple check it. Its possible some are worth saving and drying anyway for later use as dye, looks like a very wide range of shades can be got from fungi- not a dyestuff that I've experimented with myself with as yet.

Have you ever dyed using lichen, like is used for tweed?

I've done a little bit of lichen dying, I'm so paranoid about over harvesting though that its usually only when I have good bits come in on firewood or storm torn pieces. Had some gorgeous shades though, deep foxy burnt oranges with some just by boiling, pinks, purples and blues (all ph sensitive and fugitive) if others are femented first or soaked in ammonia or alcohol
