My project this winter.

I bought this boat for £200

I need to put new wheels on it and to get a reliable little out board to replace the one that came with it.

I hope to get some fishing done from it and to put reports on what I catch on here.
There will be a vacancy for a cabin boy if any of you just happen to be in the area.
Any ideas on what outboard I should be looking for? Its quite a light boat.

I don't know much about boats but I didn't think they needed wheels. Wink

Seriously, I've often thought a small boat would be useful if I end up near the sea but thought one would be too expensive. £200 sounds ideal, is that the going rate? From the photos she looks sound. How far out will you be able to take her?

I sold mine for £1650, sniff Sad

Bodger, I would guess that at most you would want about 25hp with that, but a 10hp would probably be fine. You will be getting an alternate source of propulsion as well? (auxilliary outboard or oars). You'll need to measure the stern to find out whether you need a short, standard or long shaft engine.

Don't forget the flares, lifejackets etc. The RNLI do a free seaworthiness check which is well worth taking up.

I got flares with the boat , but will need to update the life jackets.

Check they are still in date. Wink

Nah, flares went out in the Seventies.
(sorry, I'll get me lifejacket...)
