We've just got back from the Damson Day in the Lyth Valley and they were advertising this up there as well
Got a lovely big bundle of Pea sticks for £3 - all coppiced from local Hazel and I was going to get some Bean Poles but we couldn't fit them in the car and OH took the roof bars off yesterday for some reason known only to himself!
So I got the guy's number instead and I'm going to go and pick some up in the next couple of weeks

Just wondering how long people tend to find hazel bean poles last? This will be my second year and, to be honest, I think bamboo canes will outlast the hazel so I still think there's a possible market for UK grown bamboo.

I'll be using some of my coppiced sycamore for pea sticks/poles this year.
Be interesting to see how long they last, compared to other woods.

I'm using coppiced hazel for pea sticks and bean poles. I usually find the later last 2 or 3 years but I suspect the pea sticks will only be used once. But as they didn't cost be anything except the time to cut them I'm not complaining.
