New Boy!

Yesterday, we received an early wedding anniversary present from our friend, Liz.

He is called Cornelius - judging by his size we think he may be a vulture crossed with a goose!!
Treacodactyl

A slightly camera shy Light Sussex cockerel by the looks of him. I'll show him to our girls to see what they think. Wink

Ooh, he's a handsome chap Very Happy ... is the allotment far enough away for you not to have too many early mornings?

I've got one just like him, albeit with no tail feathers 'cos he's moulting. He's very attentive to his girlies and protects them from all manner of evil - like the two pheasants that flew over the garden this morning Rolling Eyes

Our LS male is called Lister - and he's so sweet with his ladies - calling them over when he finds something nice for them to eat, strutting his stuff and making sure they're all fine. he even knocks on the garden door if we haven't been out with their afternoon treats.

Mind you in the mornings when they're kept in their run as the girles weren't laying where they should he does get very amorous at times - so they end up with one of them sitting in the pop hole keeping poor Listy outside while the rest of them cackle away in the coop.

He is a handsome lad and very placid, too!

There were already about nine cockerels on the allotments and as they are located at the rear of our houses we are all used to hearing them start crowing at about 4.30 a.m.

Cornelius is easily recognisable because he has the deepest crow. We cannot get over how big he is!

Mr BlueSky

Well done G

What is the current poultry count so far?

We have 9 hens, 1 cock and 6 ducks at present.

Pleased to see you are getting some choice stock. He looks like a good 'un!
