Seems like a bit of knee-jerk legislation and as well-thought-out as the ones on dangerous dogs and knives.
Is it illegal to sell shotguns/rifles privately as well? I didn't think it was but I'm not totally on top of current firearms legislation. |

Cannot see the point of restricting sales to RFD's except to monitor units sold. Five minutes from the gunshop and the buyer sells it to a mate in the pub. Shotguns and firearms are registered to licensed keepers, and all sales can be monitored (legal ones that is) Instead of using these tradgedies to beat us all over the head and introduce ever more restrictions on our already dwindling freedoms, (see mushrooming post?)its about time those that commit such senseless crimes are properly punished. Ask the parents of the child that was shot if they think restricting the sales of airguns will save the same thing happening again? I was just about to go into nuclear rant mode, then decided that I couldn't be a###d |

I could see the point of having some form of licence but not restricting sales. I suppose they hope to reduce the number of guns sold.
I wonder when the government will actually try and sort out the type of people you commit crimes rather than just try and take away the methods - not that they are even having much success with that. It's also good to see that because the prisons are too full they are going to release convicted criminal early to make some room.
