No for Nosler

Shooting guru and ballistics consult Graham Downing reckons Nosler ballistic tips to be unsuitable for hunting for the pot.

According to Downing, polycarbonate tips create too much frangability on entry and transfer less vital energy to internal organs and tissue.

The result according to Downing are.....

Excessive meat damage on the point of entry.

Animals that can escape with little blood trail to die horribly later.

He recommends the use of non frangible buttets which expand at a predictable rate, causing massive shock damage to vital organs and arteries, but will still exit the out of the other side of the animal.

Not an accurate quote, he was referring to larger animals. Confused

Shocked Tissue damage is greatest at the site of the exit wound, not the entry point, which is almost insignificant.

True for deer and heavy bodied or dangerous game. But ballistic tips make great vermin bullets. Very Happy

Though for dangerous animals you would proably choose a caliber where this is not an option.

Whatever happened to the KISS principle?

Anyone using the frangible tipped Nosler round will have experienced for themselves the proficiency of destruction in a controlled manner that applies to it. A random Googling will throw up any number of articles covering all calibres, as well as law enforcement applications. Whilst big game hunters use them, so do squirrel bashers, and all stages in between to knock them woud be wrong. I'll run your post through my Babel fish, as Johnny boy did before.
