Normal Batteries

Batteries have always struck me as something ideal for recycling but in the UK only special NiCAD or lead acid batteries are often recycled.

Where I work they have just started recycling normal batteries and after several emails I've managed to track down BIFFA will collect them. I've looked at BIFFAs web site and the info shown is very limited.

Does anyone know if they recycle them yet? I'll contact our council as they use BIFFA and the person I spoke to a while back seemed very keen on recycling.

This Google add came up and is interesting. It lists costs for people who wish to recycle batteries etc:

Thanks for that link Treacy, I have been looking for ways of disposing of my 9v electric fence batteries. Have emailed the people at the site.

Are they normal or lead acid? I'll be having a dig around as it some places charge for battery disposal but the councils will have to start doing this due to EC laws soon.
