Notice of Underreported Income

Just had a couple of these emails that look on the surface of things to be fairly genuine and come from HMRC. Looking more closely though the ID number didn't tie in with my account and the URL it wants to take you off to isn't a genuine HMRC one by the look of it. I've sent it off to the bit of the HMRC website looking at phishing issues and have had no comeback from them but I'd be pretty wary of it if you've had one recently.

I've had 5 of those this morning, each in a different name. Forwarded the first to the HMRC phishing link.

So glad I'm not the only one! (And welcome, Wherry.)

Thank you.

We have had four already today via our work email. Evil or Very Mad

I got a letter from them yesterday (which is genuine) warning me that I must be accurate with my tax return and that most people they decide to investigate have to pay more tax.
Not really sure why they sent it as I've never got it wrong ( I think they like to put the wind up those people who cut it fine for the deadline) but the phishing scammers may be aware that this is the time of year this sort of correspondence goes out and try to cash in on it.

I've had these to my work e-mail account. Was stopped by the anti-virus filter, so maybe worth checking beore clicking!

ten an hour here - you know, I'd hang, draw and quarter spammers - 650 rubbish emails over the weekend, such a waste of time.

about 100 amongst them from HMRC, you'd think the Queen would have better things to do.

You're joking...

I've had 15 so far today.
Wherry

Think I've had about 6 in total.

The thing that made me mention it was it came in about 9.30 this morning and looked pretty kosher. I was tempted to open it for an instant, what with it being Monday morning, but better sense kicked in and I had a look at it without opening it and had a look at the URL it wanted you to go to which definitely looked suspicious.

If my post stopped 1 person from giving anything to the jolly naughty phishermen then that's great.

Lots here today, them included, spammers have been busy over the weekend, that's for sure, sorry if anyone else has had any emails from me (but not from me).

And 7 more.

Someone on OTG has actually opened one of these and has had their computer totally trashed with hundreds of trojans.

Before opening it, they actually rang the telephone number mentioned in the E mail and it was the HMC number. They clicked it and to quote " All hell let loose"
