The Grim Reaper visits the Horgan-Webb clan

Dead lamb over the weekend. No apparent reason... Rolling Eyes

Dead chook in hen house this morning. Another one very poorly and in isolation in the polytunnel. Prolly be dead when I get home.

Thought I'd do my impersonation of Amanda Burton in 'Silent Witness' on the chooks when I get home tonight. What obvious signs should I look for?

I was saying to a friend (ex-smallholder) this morning that 2 years ago I would have cried for 4 days and fretted for a month. Now I shrug and say "That's a shame."
Treacodactyl

When I performed a post mortem on Treacle when she died I followed the instructions printed in "Country Smallholding". Basically you're looking for anything abnormal although as I'd not prepped a chicken before I wasn't that sure what was abnormal. Confused With Treacle there was far too much fat in her system and too many part formed yolks so it looked like egg peritonitis or heart failure.

How is looking into the middle distance in a drippy way until the love interest for this week turns up going to help? Rolling Eyes Wink
Nick

Will you have a most unconvincing cod Oirish accent, too, please?

I went to a conference recently and there was a conference for pathologists on at the same time. I mistakenly tried to register at the wrong conference, but the girl at the registration desk immediately queried whether I really was at the right conference. Embarassed I didn't actually want to go, you understand, but I was a little offended to be recognised so quickly as not being a pathologist. Rolling Eyes Wink Laughing

Are you sure you're not just more worried that you look like a Librarian-Teccie? Laughing

Shocked Laughing I put a lot of work into trying not to look like that (see the hairdresser thread Embarassed Laughing Laughing ) I even hung up my Birkenstocks in favour of pointy boots for that conference.

Maybe it was the morris-dancing, real-ale buff colleague I had at my side that gave me away? The fact he was wearing an 'amusing' Web 2.0 t-shirt probably didn't help either... Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing
