What was that??

Yesterday something really weird happened & I thought I would share it in case anyone else is affected.
I was looking for colouring in pages of footballers for the children, had pressed print and suddenly the "my computer page" pops up with another pop up inside it telling me everything is infected with trojans, spyware etc. It was very alarming with all these flashing red texts everywhere. It looked as if IE had detected the supposed security breech, but when I clicked to resolve it(foolishly), the real IE cautioned me from downloading anything and thankfully I went no further.
Then I took a close look and realised
1. there were spelling mistakes
2. My location was listed as Glasgow
3. I could click and drag the pop up all over the screen
4. It wasn't actually "my computer" but a web page looking very like it-I could sill see all the IE toolbar stuff at the top.

I ran a full virus scan and spysweeper and nothing was found. all is running well, but thought I would share it in case anyone else encounters the same.
It would have been really easy to be fooled by this. What was it??
As you can guess i'm rather a technophobe! Embarassed

If you'd have tried to run the "resolve" function it would have riddled your confuser with dirty bits that mess up all the 1's and 0's inside.

If it ever comes up again either press alt+f4 or click on the cross in the top right to close it down

It's more than likely come from a webpage you have been browsing (tut, tut Shocked Laughing )

But if it happens again or keeps happening then I suspect you have a small piece of spyware on your machine. Try running a couple of anti-spyware programs as well as your virus software, just to make sure you have all your bases covered.
