beekeeping clothingI've seen lots of different brands and types of beekeeping clothing.
I'd appreciate any advice from beekeepers here on what companies to consider for buying clothing and any other advice on clothing for the newcomer!
Thanks.

I am also a newbie! I have so far purchased a jacket with a veil from our apiary shop. I've not used it much in anger yet, but it seems to be fine and plenty of others seem to have similar.
We are recommended not to wear gloves if you can manage it, else just to wear latex ones, which mean you still have sensitivity and don't end up squashing the bees, but don't get covered in propolis.

I use a BBWear hood which has a mesh vest attatched.

You put it on then put on your boiler suit over the top.
Any heavy cotton boiler suit will do.
I foung a navy surplus one with velcro cuffs which helps stop the bees climbing up my arms.
Sherrif have always been the brand leader.
But I'm chuffed with the BBWear.

I would also highly recommend the BBWear suits - I'm too fat to fit in one but my daughter has one and they are excellent, very high quality and worth the money and as they have stiff hood's (I'm sure there is a joke in there but I'm not going down that route) - It protects the back of the neck from stings - Which is why I'm going to buy the seperate hood for myself - because the veil I have at the moment has a soft backpiece which means that bee's can get caught in it

I have a bbwear which I got at a hefty discount via my local beekeeping association.

I got mine from here - although I cannot comment on it yet, as I havent put it into practical use yet!!
(they come in HUGE sizes too, which is why I used them as opposed to the other places)

I've got an astronaut type suit from beebasic online---they were cheaper than others I was looking at a couple of years ago----had a home made one before that----the big size is enormous---believe me if it fits me it'll fit anybody.

I bought an outfit from Bee Basic.
I was able to try out the outfit at a couple of beekeeping meetings so that helped me decide.
Another factor was actually meeting the people at the Welsh Beekeepers convention. Mrs Loveday (one of the proprietors) is so helpful.
Cheers

That looks great - and very reasonably priced. Remember to do the zip up though - Arvo had a terrible 'oh my goodness there is a bee INSIDE my veil moment yesterday and realised that he'd forgotten to zip his hat on

I bet those were his exact words at the time too.

He did the bee dance. You know, the one with the hands and arms flailing around the head?

That pics my suit [ the khaki one] the sizes are very generous---sherriff/ bbwear etc just don't make suits for the generously proportioned

I bought one from eBay from a seller in Portugal - it did up over my bump right until the 'man walking in front with a red flag' stage of pregnancy. Unfortunately I couldn't find the link to post and she hasn't got any listings up at the moment.

We are supposed to have some hot weather on the way so I have just bought a ventilated suit

Really pleased with it, so far, will be a Godsend if the weather heats up
