Offered: Fattening cockerelsIn about a month I will have between six and twelve barnevelder cockerels that are surplus to requirements. They will be off heat and six weeks old.
If anyone would like any or all of them to fatten on, they will have cost me a couple of quid to raise to that point and I would be open to cash or offers of a swap of some kind, the more arcane the better .

I might be interested if you could bring them to the mid-winter bean feast... What would you like to swap for?

I could bring them on Monday? Or will you not have the room yet? They are still under the lamp. Or I have four that are three months old .
Swap for a utility-type drake or some sausages

The three-month chaps should fit well with the others... How about bangers, then?

If you'd like to raise a few, say four, to slaughter weight we'd be happy to have them. No room to keep them here at the mo.
Could trade for sausages, bunnies or actual money if you prefer.

It's the space, really, BB - I'd rather shift them when they are little, so I don't get overstocked. If you can find someone with room to grow them on for you, you are most welcome to them, though.
All my stock is a mile away down the road at Ma's atm (apart from the babies in the kitchen ) and I am imposing on her quite a bit to look after things, so I am trying to be sensible.

Ah, if only you were closer. Getting bored of eating bantams!

Can meet you at the M4 J24 Monday just after lunch?

I've got a spare broody ark that will take 2 or 3 ... what do you want for them?

They're only be three weeks, so you'd need to keep them warm for another couple of weeks longer until they're feathered. Would that be okay?
A quid each or a swap of something, just to cover my hatching costs - I'll be culling them otherwise.

Ah.
Just re-read your post, but properly this time. Thought they were 6 weeks now and off heat.
I don't have anywhere that's safe to keep them under heat - at least, where they'd last more than 5 minutes.
Any Downsizers making a trip across the Severn bridge in a few weeks?!

Aren't you being a bit presumptuous? Not just anyone gets in my pants I'll have you know.

Put the big pants down... Step away from the big pants...
Chez, would you like sterling or sausages? Or the cat that's once again pulling all my clothes off the dryer?
Helen, how many do you / I / we want?!

Phew, glad they've settled in
Thanks, Chez! Depending on your plans for the return journey, you're more than welcome to pop in and meet the pigs (and piglets!).

I have to get home tomorrow, but thank you both very much. Perhaps I could combine foisting myself on Helen for a weekend for chilling-and-corset purposes at some point soon with a pig-viewing?
I'm very pleased that they haven't gone to waste - it seems such a shame to neck them, but there's a limit to what I need/want to grow on for slaughter myself.

must remember not to get to fond of them
although I am wondering if breeding Faverolles is the way to go

Don't go to Helen's to make corsets. Make some big pants of your own.

I have plenty of big pants. I'd quite like something with a bit more scaffolding

Don't leave it too long as the piglets won't stay cute and cuddly for long!
